Steam randomly validating game files dating for guys
I know on some other games I have tried it on, steam will end up downloading some files, but apparently not all files are included in this.
It compares the game files you have on installed your computer with those of of the latest version on the steam servers.
Visit Stack Exchange I realize that many times when there is an issue with a game on Steam, it can be solved with "Verify Integrity of Game Cache". I tried running Darksiders and it gave me an error of "Missing Executable", so I figured the verify would easily catch that and install the missing files.I was having a horrible time trying to get Black Mesa to work again after Valve put up an "updated" version of their Source engine last week. The game was crashing and I did everything you did to try and get it to work with no luck. Was getting to the point of setting the comp on fire.
You know what ended up fixing the problem: I deleted everything in the registry related to Black Mesa or the Source Engine. I suggest going through your registry and just clean it out. (If you're on Win 7, go to start, type 'regedit', run the .exe)Idk what registry entries to touch so that may be a bad idea. What happens is that it checks the games has all the proper files (sometimes if you want to mess with maps and stuff might accidentally delete some stuff so it adds all the right files!
